Frequently asked questions

FAQS

Why should I use a critical communications app like Agnet instead of a generic messaging app in my organisation?

Messaging apps are convenient for staying in touch, but not all offer the high level of security, resilience and privacy needed for critical communications. Agnet field users, like emergency workers, handle confidential information and require secure, reliable communication. Standard messaging apps do not offer features such as emergency calls, lone worker protection, location sharing and dispatching. Agnet's critical communications solutions provide these versatile capabilities.

How easy is Agnet to deploy and adopt in my organisation?

The easiest way to use Agnet is through Airbus' cloud service, ensuring a secure space for your organisation and its information. Initial setup can be completed in hours with e-learning and documentation. This SaaS model is cost-effective for advanced communications. For public safety, we offer an on-premises solution compatible with narrowband networks and extended services like IoT and CCTV. Airbus experts provide Professional Services to plan and deploy a tailored end-to-end solution that meets your demanding needs.

Is Agnet based on 3GPP standards?

3GPP standards provide the foundation for developing new technologies for the mobile broadband ecosystem. Airbus is a key contributor to 3GPP standardisation and an active member of TCCA, the Global Certification Forum (GCF) and the GSM Association (GSMA), and participates in GCF MCX work. Agnet is based on 3GPP standards, which makes it a future-proof solution for mission-critical services.

Can I keep my narrowband network live while I adopt Agnet broadband capabilities, such as video calls and multimedia?

The shift to mission-critical broadband involves more than just a smartphone app. Devices, networks, control systems and narrowband-integrated applications need attention. A step-by-step transition to 3GPP MCX broadband reduces risks and maintains familiar workflows. Smartphone and narrowband radio users can communicate together, make calls, and send messages, while new multimedia capabilities are available for smartphone users.

Does Agnet work with satellite connectivity?

Agnet is compatible with LEO satellite constellations, currently available with OneWeb, for satellite connectivity in addition to 4G/5G networks. Agnet over Satcom offers added resilience, extended coverage, and capacity for uninterrupted field collaboration by supporting the use of deployable networks and satellite communications for connectivity.

Which smart devices can I use with Agnet?

Agnet mobile app is available for Android and iOS smart devices and has been tested with a wide variety of off-the-shelf models and their accessories that help professional users to stay focused on their missions.
