Firemen at Dubai airport

Ready to respond

The fire and rescue services at Dubai International Airport are ready to respond and deal with any incident or emergency occuring at the airport – 24/7. They use TETRA radio communications every day to communicate with air traffic, pilots of aircraft, ground movement and control, crews in the terminals, and with other fire stations in Dubai.

Using TETRA radio communications ensures everything runs smoothly.

Says Wayne Ditchburn, senior manager for Operational Support: "If an incident commander feels the need to get a clear message across – to all his crews if he saw an unsafe practice, he would obviously use the TETRA system. I think the huge advantage of it is the clear communication it provides.”

Perhaps surprisingly, clear communication also helps the fire services comply with GCAA regulations.
