MSB, the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency, and Airbus Public Safety and Security signed a 7-year Frame contract in early December 2024, for the operational continuity of the national public safety network of Sweden, Rakel.

Responding to Rakel’s high standards for robustness, availability and development until the transition to 5G technology, this new long-term agreement for the delivery of system equipment and technical support is renewable annually for the following three years.

It is also a clear endorsement of Airbus commitment to continue providing narrowband solutions and services to TETRA customers and it will take effect on April 1st, 2025.

MSB operates the Rakel network, completed in 2010. Around 100,000 users from 650 emergency services and civil protection organisations throughout Sweden rely on the network for mission-critical communication, including the police, fire brigade, ambulances, civil defence, border guards, defence forces, customs, prison administration, health and social services and the maritime administration.
